Port City Letterpress & Book Studio is a non-profit learning environment for letterpress and bookbinding knowledge. We offer small group or individual classes in typography and printing, bookbinding and papermaking. Charles Holden as instructor and facilitator has over 50 years of experience in teaching and working in the printing industries. He began his career after graduating from RIT’s school of Graphic Arts and Photography, School of Printing as a high school teacher at McKinley Tech in Washington, DC. From there a short stint with the Department of Agriculture as a trainer in their in-plant printing operation. From there went on to become an adjunct professor at Montgomery Colleges Visual Communication Department in Rockville, MD. He has also worked as an ink salesman for Borden Chemical and has owned several printing businesses in the Maryland. Before starting Port City Letterpress, he retired from FedEx Office as a manager.
